  EXAMPLES:

TUBULAR GEOMETRY, TWO-DIMENSIONAL DIRECTIONAL DETECTOR

This detector can locate a neutron or gamma ray source in two dimensions, X and Y or
azimuthal and polar angles. The arc-shaped quadrant scintillators determine the lateral
position and azimuthgal angle of the source, while the ratio of the central detector to the quadrant
scintillators determines the polar angle, thereby determining the source direction.

Shielded version: US Patent 10,024,985 and 10,401,510
Light-weight self-shielded version: US Patent 10,261,200.

SQUARE GEOMETRY, FULL DIRECTIONAL DETECTOR WITH FRONT COUNTER

Disclosed is a device comprising four "rod" scintillators and a "front" counter
frontward of the rod scintillators. The front counter is thin enough to let many
incident neutrons or gamma rays pass through. The rod scintillators measure the
azimuthal angle of the source, while the front counter determines the polar angle.
This configuration provides high detection efficiency and very high angular resolution.

Shielded version: US Patent 10,101,472 and 10,302,777
One-dimensional version: US Patent 10,330,804.
Light-weight self-shielded version: US Patent 10,416,322 and 10,444,385

FAST NEUTRON DETECTOR WITH ONE-DIMENSIONAL DIRECTIONALITY

This proton-recoil neutron detector comprises three layers: left scintillator, hydrogenous
target, and right scintillator, each layer having a thickness of less than the average
track length of the recoil proton. The two scintillators produce different pulses,
thereby indicating which direction the neutron came from.

Also disclosed is a multi-layer system providing high detection efficiency
and left-center-right neutron directionality.

Single and multi-layer versions: US Patent 10,371,837

DIRECTIONAL DETECTOR WITH MIDDLE SCINTILLATOR

Single and Double-Sided versions available, with integral shields or totally self-shielded.
This detector determines the source direction all around the device.
It has front and back detectors inside the shields, and side detectors outside.

The ratio of detector rates indicates both the sign and magnitude of the source angle,
thereby fully determining the source angle.
No rotations or iteration necessary.

Shielded version: US Patent 9,864,074.
Light-weight self-shielded versions: US Patents 10,416,322 and 10,444,385

LARGE-AREA DIRECTIONAL DETECTOR

This detector "Wall" detects gammas or neutrons and determines the source direction.
It has very high sensitivity for sources all around the system.
Individual detectors are recessed or protruding in alternation.
Source direction and distance are indicated by the distribution of counts.
This configuration is especially useful for scanning large items quickly.

One-dimensional version: US Patent 10,191,160 and 10,481,279.
Three-dimensional version: US Patent 10,416,318
